Feed Icon
      What is a feed?
Feeds help you keep track of updates to websites and other information sources, without having to visit the website every time. The updates come to you, instead of you going to them.

What is a feed reader?
A feed reader allows you to subscribe to, organize, search, and read feeds. A feed reader can take many forms: software-based, web-based, integrated into browsers or e-mail programs, and many more. Google for "feed reader".

Can I get feeds via e-mail?
Yes. There are a number of solutions for "RSS to E-mail".

How do I know if a website has a feed?
There are lots of different icons and links for feeds. Look for icons or links labeled "XML", "RSS", "Syndicate", or "Subscribe". Click the icon or link to access the feed.

A new, standardized icon has been established to identify feeds:

Does the term "Subscribe" mean I have to pay?
The word "subscribe" refers to receiving updates automatically, not a payment. Also, some feed readers are commercial, but a lot of them are free.
