I'm curious to know why the library isn't open 24hrs like most other universities?

I recently visited NC State's library and was sorely dissapointed in our own library after having NC State's to compare it to. I think our library is great but it tries too hard to make it look professional to outsiders and isn't as student friendly as it should be. I think UNCC should consider doing what NC State just did: opening a new area designated "Learning Commons" where students can come, colaborate, and build community in a more laid back enviroment with lots of creative spaces and new technology. As it is obvious that this type of renovation is very costly I think it should be taken into consideration with making any changes to the library. A great spot for something like this would be the area directly beside Ritazza's. Overall, when I come to the library to study, it never seems inviting or makes me feel like I want to stay. The chairs are uncomfortable, the study rooms are tiny and not all that well kept (more thanks to the students who mess them up, not the staff), and is just not the warm learning/studying environment that I expected from a college campus. What this library is good at is service. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I love the rare books archive and it is easy for me to find help with anything I need. Keep up the good work!

I found it disturbing that on Saturday July 19th their was no printers in the library that worked for the entire day. I know we are switching vendors but is it possible to have one printer that works in the entire library? We are now a college with almost 23,000 students a a brand new 3 million dollar entrance and we do not have any printers that work. Please do not open if you are not going to be functional. I understand budgets and so on, but please just one printer that works.

I was wondering if the library is open to public. Is there any chance that I could apply for a library card? Please advise. Thanks. Liang

I'm an employee, but also a customer, and I just wanted to recognize the circulation staff for excellent service. Everyone I have encountered has been helpful and attentive. What a great group of staff, and I appreciate them.(Tech. Svs.)

Every other University I have seen has a library that is open 24 hours. You really need to consider never closing. At least extend the Fri. and Sat. hours to midnight, but 24 hours is still better.

Today I find it to be very hot in the library, is there anywhere somebody could turn on the Air Conditioning. It's hot outside and then inside with all these computers and equipment running is not making the situation any better.

I know it's probably been mentioned and how it costs money to get the infrastructure going, but I was wondering when the tower floors will be able to have better wireless access because I like studying up there because it's quiet and yet can't always look up things online because of there not being hotspots
